SecurityCoverage Partners with Microsoft to Protect Customers

SecurityCoverage joined the Microsoft Active Protections Program (MAPP), and will be provided with vulnerability information in advance of Microsoft’s monthly security update releases.  SecurityCoverage provides fully managed Internet security, online backup and advanced support services to individual users through a partnership group of Internet service providers, telecommunications and cable companies, electronic retailers, value added resellers and financial institutions across the nation.

The Microsoft Active Protections Program (MAPP) is a new program from the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC) that provides vulnerability information to security software providers in advance of Microsoft’s monthly security update release.  By receiving vulnerability information earlier, security software providers can give customers potential improvements to security protection features, such as third-party intrusion detection systems, intrusion prevention systems, or security software signatures.  The MSRC is a leading security risk analysis and management center that helps protect Microsoft customers by delivering updates and guidance in a timely and authoritative manner.  “Our partners share our passion for industry collaboration to protect a world full of Internet users. No one company can accomplish this by itself.  That is why we are partnering with SecurityCoverage to advance and improve security.” Dave Forstrom, director of Microsoft’s Trustworthy Computing product management.

“Having access to this detailed vulnerability information before Microsoft releases its security bulletins will allow us to provide improved and more timely protections, while helping to close the window of attacks between release of vulnerability information and customers updating their systems,” states Robert O’Dell, President and CEO of SecurityCoverage, Inc.
